In early December, Japan's Tanaka launched its first fully electric off-road crane EVOLT eGR-250N for the domestic market. It is reported that EVOLT is a new term composed of EVOLUTION+VOLTAGE, which refers to Tanaka's zero emission technology and will also be used as the series name for the company's all electric product lineup. The eGR-250N off-road crane released this time is the first electric product in the series.

As early as April 2022, the First Engineering Machinery Network had made relevant reports on this matter, when Tada announced that the world's first electric off-road crane would be released in 2023. This is a crucial step for Tada to achieve its long-term "dual carbon" goals, which includes reducing carbon dioxide emissions from commercial activities by 25%, reducing carbon dioxide emissions from product use by 35%, and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The eGR-250N is the world's first off-road crane powered by batteries, which can be used for all lifting and moving operations with zero carbon dioxide emissions. This crane has the same lifting performance and travel speed as previous GR series 25t equipment, with a maximum lifting capacity of 25t, a maximum working radius of 34m, a maximum lifting height of 44.2m, and a maximum speed of 49km/h. Equipped with two high output motors with a maximum output power of 97kW (132PS) and a maximum torque of 2500N · m (255kgf · m), the acceleration performance has been greatly improved.

In terms of batteries, the eGR-250N uses a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 226kW · h. After being fully charged, it can continue to work for about 11 hours in a simple lifting operation environment. If driving alone, it can achieve a range of about 70km. In the combination of lifting operation and driving, it is possible to achieve lifting operation for about 5 hours and travel for about 42 kilometers. Fast charging takes 2.5 hours, normal charging takes 8 hours, and can be operated in a plugged in state.

It is reported that the selling price of eGR-250N is 148 million yen (excluding tax), approximately 7.385 million yuan. In addition, Tanaka revealed at the press conference that in the summer of 2024, it plans to launch the second batch of pure electric off-road cranes for the US and Canadian markets.
